About TOS

The Triangle Orchid Society (TOS) was established in 1980 at the North Carolina Museum of Natural History in downtown Raleigh and soon became affiliated with the American Orchid Society (AOS). Since the mid-1980s, TOS has hosted AOS-sanctioned orchid shows at various venues throughout the Raleigh-Durham area to educate the public about orchids. In addition to these events, the society holds monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month. We currently meet at the Ruby Swain Center at the JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh, and guests are always welcome to attend!

Our mission is to promote a better understanding of orchids, share knowledge about their cultivation and enjoyment, and create opportunities for members to connect with others who share their passion. Members come from Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and surrounding communities across North Carolina.

Membership fees are not considered tax deductible because of the many benefits of membership.  Donations of plants and/or money to TOS are tax deductible.  Donations can be targeted to speaker fees, other expenses, or to TOS orchid show expenses, awards, etc.

The Triangle Orchid Society, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.  TOS sponsors many educational activities in the community to maintain its non-profit status.
